How to protect your network against data breaches
It’s a hot topic at the moment, and one that will likely get a lot of discussion as the industry tries to figure out how to make sure data isn’t stolen from users, organizations or governments.
In a new blog post, Windstream technical analyst and CTO Ben Miller writes about a new feature of the company’s network that he calls “Cloud Vault.”
It’s the company recently announced it’s deploying a new way of storing and distributing data, and Miller says Cloud Vault allows users to store and distribute their data on their own computers.
He notes that the feature is currently available to users in the US and Canada, and will roll out to other countries as well.
“The Cloud Vault feature is available to all Windstream users in Canada and US, and it is enabled by default for users in all other countries,” he writes.
“This is an important milestone in enabling our customers to store their data in the cloud and also to make them less vulnerable to data loss.”
In addition to saving users from having their data stolen, Miller explains Cloud Vault lets users store their own data for up to 30 days.
He says users who choose to store data on the Cloud Vault server can access the data even after the server shuts down.
“We are currently shipping an update to support Cloud Vault,” he wrote.
“In addition, we are working with several other large enterprises to extend Cloud Vault support to the remaining remaining partners.”
Miller says Cloud Vaults are useful for businesses to be able to protect data they store and protect against data loss and data breaches.
“Cloud Vault is an interesting option to help protect data that you don’t want your data to be compromised,” he said.
“For example, if you dont want your network to be used for spamming, then you can store your spam content on the server and not worry about losing it.”
Windstream has been rolling out Cloud Vault to its customers since February.
In a blog post from March, Miller wrote that Cloud Vault would make it easier for users to access their data if it was lost.
“Users can securely access the stored data, whether or not they are the primary account holder, in case of a disaster,” Miller wrote.
“If Cloud Vault fails or is unavailable, users will be able access their stored data on our Cloud Vault servers.
When we’re back, we’ll make it even easier to recover the data, just by providing users with a backup file.”
The new Cloud Vault is a new option that will allow customers to securely store their files and protect data from data loss.
In addition, the company is testing Cloud Vaults in the UK and US.
Miller notes that while there’s been a lot more attention on data security in the last year, it’s not as much of a focus for many in the industry.
“There’s been very little attention given to the issue of data security for most organizations,” he explained.
“Its still one of the top topics for enterprises, and people are really getting into it.”
In my opinion, its one of those things that is not going to be a topic of discussion anymore.
I think most of the attention has been focused on cybersecurity issues in the workplace.
“Miller also says there is a growing demand for a more secure data storage and sharing environment, and that he expects more companies to roll out Cloud Vaults.
