College football’s Blackhawk: The Blackhawks will be No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches poll
The College Football Playoff rankings are in for the first time this season.
The College Football Power Rankings are out.
We’re just about done.
The College Sports Awards are in.
And so we get to the College Football Coaches Poll.
This is a fun little game, because every week, the coaches pick the college football coaches of the nation.
We start with a few questions for our panel of college football pundits:Who are your favorites for the AP Poll?
The No. 2 spot goes to ESPN, which has the No. 3 and No. 4 spots in our coaches poll, respectively.
You’ve got the SEC coaches, the Big 12 coaches, and the Pac-12 coaches.
Who do you think is the best of the bunch?
What is your biggest gripe with the coaches?
How are your opinions on this week’s coaching picks?
Who is your favorite to win the AP Coaches Award?
The SEC coaches get the nod here, while the Big Ten coaches have their eyes set on the top spot.
What do you expect from these coaches?
The Pac-10 gets a big bump, as the coaches at UCLA, Arizona State, Oregon and Cal are all projected as the top teams in the Pac 12.
Who do you prefer in the national coaches poll?
The biggest change is Clemson coach Dabo Swinney.
Swinneys ranking has been dropping steadily since his last ranking.
The Tigers are expected to drop down a spot in the coaches poll after their loss to Alabama.
The ACC coaches, on the other hand, are projected to be the top four teams in this year’s rankings.
Who is the top-rated coach?
I’m going to guess Auburn, which had a very good year.
I’ll be shocked if they don’t finish in the top three again this year.
Who else does that get voted in?
How do you grade the coaches in the AP poll?
I’ve been using the coaches who have been on the job longer.
I look at what they’ve done in their previous jobs, and what they’re doing now.
I think there are some good candidates in this week.
I would like to see a little more of a mix of guys.
Who are the other guys you’re excited to see get voted into the coaches booth?
The top three spots in the Coaches Coaches and Associated Press Poll go to the two most respected teams in college football — LSU and Auburn — respectively.
LSU has had its share of ups and downs over the last few seasons.
Will that continue in the new college football season?
Auburn has struggled mightily under Gus Malzahn.
Will they be able to bounce back to a top-10 ranking this year?
We’re in a little bit of a time crunch for this week, but we’ll see what we can do.
Who should be the biggest name to be voted in next week?
We’ve got a lot of teams who are just getting started this season and have some new faces and new guys who are coming in.
What are your predictions for the new year?
I’d say a lot will depend on who the coaches are in the spring, but the big names, the ones who are getting some big new contracts, the guys who have some big changes in the offseason, the big stars are going to be in the Top 10.
Who does that look like?
Who is the one who is the biggest?
It’s kind of a big leap.
But I would love to see LSU and Alabama at the top, so that’s who I would have on my list.
What about Ohio State?
I think they have to win out, but it’s hard to think of any team that has more talent in the class than Ohio State.
Who would you like to have in your coaches poll this week?
The next two spots in this group go to LSU and Georgia.
Both teams have a chance to have their names called in the next week, so there’s a lot riding on which one gets it.
What would you be excited to get in the polls this week and who is it that you think should get in?
Georgia is coming off of a really strong season, so they are a good candidate.
It’s going to depend on how the spring goes.
Who is it?
Who would you rather see in the College GameDay Hall of Fame?
Georgia was very good last year.
They have a lot more talent.
The only question is whether the coaches want to put up a lot bigger billboards for their program.
Who has that kind of power?
Georgia has to be ranked higher than Alabama in the final poll.
If Alabama doesn’t get in, then it’s going the way of Ohio State and LSU.
What is the other guy that you are looking forward to seeing on the Hall of Famer list?
It depends on who gets it in.
Who’s the one that you would rather see on the big
